June 30 - of finishing what you start

Day 7 - we started at 7 and continued out final descent down to the mweka gate. Each step for heavier than the last one but we knew banana beer and hot showers awaited us at the bottom so we kept on trudging down - one foot in front of the other.

Back through the moorlands, to the rainforest , where it actually did drizzle this time. Said our farewells to the monkeys on our way down the middle trails carefully to not slip and break something on the way down. Slow and steady , our patience paid off and we reached the gates to heaven. Kilimanjaro beer tasted heavenly and were we glad to have registered our names for the 7th and last time into the park register.

With a proud, heavy and tired heart we headed back into town and into our hot showers. When we felt scrubbed and clean, we decided to go into town. Agrey, our tour guide, showed us around some. We got some coffee at union cafe, a couple of bottles of wine for the safari, checked out the street markets and then headed to chaga grill - which turned out to be a locals restaurant with no menu , no veggie dishes, and a bit shady feel. So we have up the idea of dinner there and after a drink there headed back to springs land hotel for some so so cheese tomato sandwiches instead. Did it feel good to sleep in a real bed after 7 days of camping!!
