July 5 - Safari day 5 - of too much safari?

Day 5 - woke up to a hot breakfast and a bit of a hangover from yesterday's wine ( and did I mention a taste of the infamous banana beer? - it was awful). Anyways, nothing that a coffee couldn't fix. What I dreaded most was getting back into the Land Rover. I was become claustrophobic in there ( more mentally than physically) and couldn't wait to get out the minute I got in.

It was a long drive ( 3 hours) to our stop for the day - Arusha national park. It's claim to fame - pretty much one word - elephants. We saw plenty of them - in all shapes, ages and sizes. Walking about , chewing trees, living their peaceful existence. Saw some huge trees where about 40 people could live in the hollow trunk of. And a fruit from a tree that make the animals tipsy. ( it had not been tested on humans - I offered to try but our driver was a spoilsport ;).

A bunch of monkey at our lunch stop - the last of our boxed lunches. Thank dear God!! They had a ball stealing people's food when they weren't looking. And that was the height of excitement for the day.  Back into the Land Rover , I started reading 'look who's back' ( a book of hitters return in 2011) - that and some not so good coffee kept me sane through the rest of the journey back to the hotel.

Headed to milan's - an Indian restaurant for dinner. Was an ok place - was good to have something known to eat for a change , although it tasted different. Cabbed it back to the hotel and called it a night. Lots of packing and sorting to do before we left the next day.
