May 15 - exploring Nelsons trails

Spent the morning exploring the center of NZ - a little hill exactly in the middle of NZ between north and South Island. Ran into a UK lad on my way there and his aunt who was so fascinatingly active despite her osteoporosis. Gives me hope - not all is lost at 40;).

She showed us a couple of local owls sleeping on a tree and repeated tales of her many adventures in her 40 years in NZ.

Finally signed up for a $500 skydive given I had the afternoon free. But as things were, they called and canceled an hour before the dive coz the weather wasn't good. So much for that. In any case , ended up walking up Graplian trail which is a short, steep ridge in the outskirts of cooking wood street. Great views from up there.

Great roommates - a couple from UK , susan and Alex camper vanning for 6 months. And Jackie - also from UK but studying in Sydney as a med intern. Made for some great dinner conversations. Wasn't up to drinks after - which was a good thing given they got back at 1. Am getting too old for that ;)?
