The day started as a few others before and after it - with a train ride. This time to Nara - famous for , no points for guessing, temples!
The town had deer all around who were begging people for deer food, which were little crackers that were being sold everywhere. It's said that the deer in this town know to bow after they've been given food. Which was really just cause that's their natural way to chew and swallow the food in their mouth. I thought it was hilarious how they made it sounds so officious :).
Anyways, we passed across a beautiful Buddha temple , which was actually lost in a fire but was rebuilt to 1/5th of its size but still was impressively big. Then onwards to another temple with a gold Buddha statue with lotus petals surrounding it - that had intricate designs of small Buddhas, mountains and flowers on it.
There was also the Ashoka pillar with 4 sided having lions with their mouths ole in a roar. And a huge tower that was built next to it in honor of the Buddhist religion offering to bring all the various sects together in their efforts to promote peace.
Also came across the oldest tree ( supposedly 1000 years old) and a beautiful temple with 100s of lanterns lining its archways, entrances and pathways. All of which are lit during festivals. Otherwise only a small set of them in a dark room are kept aflame all the time to welcome the gods.
